Acne Skin Care Products - Preventive and Maintenance Supplies

Your acne skin care products set should be comprised, not just of pimple curing formulas, but also of various supplies for maintaining a healthy skin. Some pimple remedies can cause skin dryness or can cause spots to appear. There are also formulas that can remove the zit, but cause the skin to darken.
To counteract some of the undesired effects of acne skin care products, maintenance formulas are needed. We highlighted some of the more common ones below.
1) Facial cleansers. Whether you have acne or not, a facial cleanser suitable to your kind of skin should be part of your toiletries kit. For people with oily skin, a water-based cleanser is the ideal formula, while dry-skinned individuals should opt for oil-based or moisture-rich formulas. People with sensitive skin should use mild cleansers or mild, unscented soap.
2) Astringent. This is only recommended to people with oily skin. Astringent can cause skin dryness when used by people with sensitive or already dry skin. A bottle of this can help control excessive oil production and help prevent acne. It can also minimize the darkening of the skin that can be caused by the sun and even by some acne medications.
3) Moisturizer. It is not true that people with oily skin should avoid moisturizing. All types of skin need this, especially dry skin. This helps soften the skin and make it more supple and can also prevent premature skin aging, the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. For those who have oily skin, use a moisturizer that is not oil-based.
4) Cosmetics. This is not necessarily a must for your skin care arsenal. However, some women just cannot do without cosmetics. If you have acne-prone skin, choose cosmetics that do not clog pores and are not oil-rich. Most cosmetics brands offer a line for every type of skin.
5) Skin refinishing or revitalizing facial lotion. Particularly for people in their 30s, these formulas are much needed. Most types of skin revitalizing creams are matte-like and can be applied under daily make-up or applied at night before going to bed. These are different from moisturizers and are more geared towards adult users or those who are more likely to develop wrinkles and fine lines.
6) Bath oils. For a whole body pampering, bath oils should be part of every person's skin care kit. These are ideal for older people (in their 30s) and those who spend their time outdoors most of the time. It helps the skin retain moisture and can also keep it revitalized. This doesn't mean, though, that younger people cannot use bath oils; they too, should use these to pamper and protect their skin.
Acne skin care products are not just about medications, they are also about formulas that help maintain the skin and keep it soft and healthy. These skin care products can also serve as preventive formulas to keep pimples away for those who have yet to experience a zit problem.
